VISION

Vertical Slice

Wild Wild Animals is a strategy RPG set in a western world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Originally created by Bernardo Correia, the idea was for this turn based game was to allow players to experience the spartan life one was subjected to in the American western frontier. The cartoon game aims to depict the unforgiving world in a realistically vulgar humour, inspired by classic western styled exaggeration.

This vertical slice (VS) will give the player  an opportunity to experience the companionship of a bad-ass squad. It showcases how the player can choose to indulge in the feeling of sweet revenge by recruiting and arming animals with varying skills sets and weapons. For demonstrative purposes the VS will give the player a preset squad. With this squad the player must work their way through a short narrative throughout which customisation features are also demonstrated. These features include recruiting, outfit and weapon customisation.

The focus of this VS however is technical gameplay aspect, which consists of the mechanics, playing field / environment, skills and abilities.

Mechanics: Each squad character has two weapons which can be used to perform an attack. In addition the character has two active skills and a passive ability. These can influence the following character stats:

- Health

- Accuracy (of weapons)

- Speed (movement)

- Defence

The player must choose which actions he wishes which character to do. Unlike most other turn based games, we decided to attempt a slightly different approach to the whole turn based system. Instead of selecting and moving the characters one by one, all moves and attacks happen at once after they have all been locked in by the character. This give the turn based system a slightly more real-time feel, but still allows for move planning and prediction.
